The Power of Creativity: my return to art after a reset

After nearly a year away from painting at home on canvas, I finally returned and it felt really good!
This new piece, Sunset at Mt Holden was inspired by the peaceful beauty of the golden light over one of my new favourite local spots. Mount Holden holds a new sense of stillness for me, and during a recent walk, I was awestruck by the colours in the sky, the soft blend of warmth and light.
Painting again after 11 months wasn’t just about picking up a brush. It was about honouring my creative rhythm and allowing myself space to return in my own time.
Over the past year, I was also diagnosed with ADHD, something that brought both clarity and challenge. It helped me understand why I’d often felt overwhelmed, scattered and impulsive. for the past year, I have felt disconnected from my own creativity. The pressure to be productive or inspired just made me freeze up more. I had to let go of expectations and slowly rebuild trust in my creative self.
During this time, I also completed a self-development and leadership skill-building course through the Loddon Murray Community Leadership Program (LMCLP). This course gave me space to reflect, grow, and deepen my understanding of my own values and purpose. The program supported me in building confidence, setting clearer goals, and finding new ways to lead from a place of care and authenticity, both in my support work and creative life.
Over the last couple of years I have focused deeply on support work and personal growth. The energy it takes to show up for others with compassion and presence can be all-consuming and although I’m proud of that work, it also reminded me of how essential creativity is for my own well-being.
This piece became a way to reconnect with myself.
Sunset at Mount Holden is an acrylic painting on canvas, 40cm x 50cm. It’s now available for purchase, and I’d love for it to find a home with someone who connects with the calm, light, and spaciousness it holds.
Thank you for following my creative journey, whether you’re here for the art, the healing, or simply the shared moments of being human.
If you're interested in this piece or just want to say hello, I’d love to hear from you.
